- HT Correspondent letterschd@hindustantimes.com

:A day after former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal accused chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh of allegedly colluding with those who had put the state in trouble earlier, the latter on Monday lashed out at the duo for fanning communal hatred.

On the sidelines of inaugurations of a Cine Plaza in Zirakpur, the CM said that nobody involved in sacrilege cases would be spared, whoever it may be. He added, “Those who are innocent have nothing to worry about, but those who have done wrong will be brought to book.”

The CM added former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal was trying to divert people’s attention from the findings of the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission, which had squarely blamed the previous regime for the desecration of the holy scriptures.

“The SIT would thoroughly investigate the 200-odd incidents of sacrilege of holy scriptures, including Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Gutka Sahib, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Quran Sharif,” he added.

On the proposed rally in the senior Badal’s home turf Lambi, Amarinder added, “I will expose the Badals’ intent to vitiate the state’s peaceful atmosphere. It is the right of my party to hold a rally in any part of the state,” he added.

Responding to the issue of Dashmesh Canal, the CM added that the matter of river waters was with the Supreme Court, but the state government would explore the possibility as well as the feasibility of constructing the canal in due course of time.

› I will expose the Badals’ intent to vitiate the state’s peaceful atmosphere. It is the right of my party to hold a rally in any part of the state. CAPT AMARINDER SINGH, CM
