HONEYTRAP: JIND RAPE ‘VICTIM’ , 2 AIDES HELD FOR EXTORTING MONEY FROM ‘ACCUSED’

-

KARNAL: The Jind police on Tuesday evening arrested a woman and her two accomplices for extorting Rs 2 lakh from a farmer, whom she accused of kidnapping and raping her in Julana town of the district on Monday.

Jind DSP Pawan Kumar said that soon after filing the police complaint, the woman (whose name was not disclosed), along with Renu of Rewari and Sanjay of Jhajjar, started bargaining with accused Satpal, saying she will withdraw her complaint if he would pay her Rs 5 lakh. She demanded Rs 2 lakh in advance and assured him that she would not record her statement before the magistrate.

Satpal disclosed the matter to the Jind police and a police team arrested her along with Renu and Sanjay from a resort on Safidon road in Jind, while receiving ₹2 lakh.

The DSP said the trio has been booked under Sections 384 and 120 B of the IPC.

“We are investigating her past record as we found that she had implicated some people in a honey trap case earlier also,” Jind superintendent of police (SP) Arun Singh told HT.

On Monday, the 32-yearold woman of Kosli in Rewari district had alleged that she was kidnapped by two persons and raped by one of them at Julana in Jind district and police had registered an FIR against the accused under Sections 376D (gangrape) and 366 (kidnapping) of IPC.

In her complaint, she alleged that she had come to Julana to buy some medicines. When she was going to a chemist shop, two bikeborne men approached her. After inquiring about her health condition, they offered some alternative therapy to treat her and she agreed to accompany them. They allegedly took her to the fields on a bike and raped her.

But the police officials associated with the investigations said the woman was a “habitual complainant.” They said the police got the information that the woman herself made a call to one of the accused on his phone and told him about her location.
