NEW DELHI: An American woman who had accused Cristiano Ronaldo of raping her during the latter’s vacation to Las Vegas in 2009, has spoken for the first time to German newsmagazine Der Spiegel, detailing her allegations against the Juventus forward.

In the magazine’s latest issue, to be published on Saturday, the 34-year-old woman has revealed her identity and has given her version of events in Ronaldo’s hotel suite in 2009. In April 2017, Spiegel had reported that the fivetime Ballon d’Or winner had paid $375,000 to the woman in an outof-court settlement following her initial accusation.

As per the magazine’s latest issue, the woman’s lawyer is now questioning the validity of the settlement in a civil complaint.

While Ronaldo and his agent had earlier refuted the allegations, claiming the sex was consensual, Spiegel reported the woman’s latest claim relies partly on a document where Ronaldo had described his version of events. “She said no and stop several times (sic),” the former Real Madrid player is reported to have admitted in the document. Spiegel claims to have access to the document.
