BJP has given Haryana image of a rape state: Congress
KARNAL :Claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state had failed to check crime against women in the state, All-India Women Congress Committee national president, Sushmita Dev, said that during the party’s rule, Haryana had come to be known only for rapes.
“The mission of ‘Beti-Bachao Beti Padhao’ was launched from Haryana, yet people have now come to associate Haryana with incidents of rape,” she added, in the town, as part of the Congress’ ‘Mahila Adhikar Yatra’.
Under this yatra, Congress leaders are reaching out to to understand problems being faced by them so that these issues could be included in the Congress’ manifesto .
She also attacked chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar for inexperience saying, “Khattar was a pracharak and he did not have any knowledge about the governance and he has proved this in the past four year’s rule.”
The Congress MP also emphasised the need to increase the presence of women in politics. “We will bring the women reservation bill if voted to power,” she added.
When asked about the differences within Haryana Congress leaders as all top party leaders in the state do not come together at one stage, she said, “Leaders are busy in their programmes.”
