SAD loyalists slam senior leaders’ refusal to attend Oct 7 rally
GURDASPUR: The district Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) witnessed a divide as some of the party leaders, led by senior leader Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki, held a meeting at a local restaurant on Friday.
The meeting was to condemn Majha-based party leaders Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Rattan Singh Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan for declaring that they will not take part in the October 7 rally in Patiala.
The rally is being organised to ‘protest against the anti-people policies of the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Punjab’.
The meeting was attended by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member and SAD’s district senior vice-president Gurinderpal Singh Gora, district Istri Akali Dal president Swarnjit Kaur Jeendarh, district Youth Akali Dal (YAD) president Paramvir Singh Ladi, ex-Dhariwal Market Committee chairman Tarlok Singh Chhotepur, former zila parishad member Sarbjit Singh Jagowal, among others.
The said leaders are seeking a strict disciplinary action against the ‘rebel’ Majha leaders.
