29yrold dies in road accident near Farrukhnag­ar, friend survives

GURURGAM : The Gururgam Police identified the victim who was burnt alive inside his Honda City car, while his co-passenger suffered injuries after they met with an accident on the Jhajjar-Farrukhnag­ar state highway near the Kundali Manesar-Palwal Expressway on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identi fied as the 29-year-old Chand Singh, a resident of Sarai Ala wardi. According to the police Singh, along with his friend Nir anjan Lamba, had gone to Mahenderga­rh to drop Singh’s grandfathe­r, on Thursday morning, and were returning when they met with an accident

Lamba, 34, is undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital and according to the police, his statement has been recorded on Friday afternoon.

According to the police Chand Singh had bought the car two months back. On Thursday while driving down the Jhajjar Farrukhnag­ar state highway Lamba and his friend’s car lost control, crashed into a culvert and slipped off the road. The impact of the accident was such that the car flipped severa times on the road before coming to a halt. Soon after, the vehicle caught fire. Lamba told the police that the impact of the accident was so sudden that his friend could not move out of the car and was burnt alive. He however, managed to open the door and rush out, before flames could engulf the car.

According to the police, the body of the victim was handed over to his family after the post mortem examinatio­n, on Friday

The police have started inquest proceeding­s under Sec tion 174 of the Code of Crimina Procedure (CrPC).
