DECEASED IDENTIFIED AS AAKASH NASIR OF SONEPAT, POLICE SUSPECT SUICIDE

KARNAL :A BTech (final year) student of the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, was found dead in his hostel room on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Aakash Nasir, a resident of Sonepat district.

Police officials said the BTech (electrical) student allegedly locked himself in the room and burnt some papers to cause smoke in the room. He probably died due to lack of oxygen, they said.

The police said that on the basis of preliminary investigations, it seems to be a suicide case, though the actual cause of the student’s death could be ascertained after postmortem report. The police said they found a suicide note form the victim’s room while tapes were pasted on its doors.

Kurukshetra University police post in-charge Mohinder Singh said the smoke inside the room could not come out as the room was locked and it could have choked the student to death

“In the investigation, we will have to find out as to why tapes were pasted on the doors of the room,” he said, while adding that in the suicide note it was not made clear why he committed suicide.

He said there were reports that the victim was reeling under some family problem and was also not doing well in his exams.

The police said the body of the deceased has been handed over to his family members and the police have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC.
