DGP condoles death of SI who died in encounter

CHANDIGARH Haryana director general of police BS Sandhu on Friday expressed grief over the demise of sub-inspector (SI) Ranbir Singh, who lost his life while arresting a notorious criminal in Rewari district.

In a condolence message issued here, Sandhu said it was a major loss to the police depart ment and that the SI would be long remembered for his brav ery and services to the depart ment. Praying for peace to the departed soul, he, along with the police department, empathised with the bereaved family and wished them strength to bear this irreparabl­e loss.

The director general of police also said that police would pro vide all kind of facilities under the welfare schemes of the department to the next-of-kin of the deceased. Apart from spe cial ex-gratia grant of ₹30 lakh under government policy another financial assistance of ₹30 lakh would be given under a special agreement of accidenta death insurance cover.

In addition, free education up to Class 12 would be offered to the wards of the deceased employee in Police Public School.

Ranbir, along with his team was killed when he had rushed to Rajasthan border in Rewari but accused Naresh fired gun shots when he was about to be nabbed.

The police managed to arrest the accused. Naresh had killed a hotel owner about two weeks ago on the Delhi-Jaipur high way and was also wanted in other murder and attempt to murder cases.
