FARIDKOT: The district and sessions court on Thursday framed charges against the then Adarsh school chairman and his son in the school teacher rape case.

Narinder Singh Randhawa, the then chairman of the Sukh Sagar Avenue Association that runs the school, and his son Jasmeet Singh Randhawa have been charged with outraging of modesty, rape and cheating (for not paying remuneration for her work). Charges have also been framed under sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

On September 6 last year, the police had booked Randhawa and his son for allegedly raping a Dalit teacher.

The victim claimed that Randhawa used to call her to his residence on Talwandi Road and rape her.

Randhawa had allegedly threatened the victim that she would lose her job in case she disclosed the matter to anyone. The woman claimed that she kept mum for a year due to his threat. Later, his son Jasmeet also started sexually exploiting her.

A Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Chandigarh, report had confirmed that the voice samples of the two accused match with the audio samples taken from their alleged conversation with the victim.

The report was submitted in the Punjab and Haryana high court on August 29.

The Punjab and Haryana high court granted interim bail to the father-son duo on October 12, 2017.
