Elect the party that has worked for you: Kejriwal
NEWDELHI:Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that people made a mistake by electing the incumbent members of parliament (MP) of the BJP in 2014 because they have tried their best to stall his government’s work in the national Capital.
“You gave us a huge mandate in 2015. But you did a mistake by electing seven BJP MP’s,” said Kejriwal alleging how BJP at the Centre hampered Delhi government’s work by trying to halt projects like CCTV and Mohalla Clinics through lieutenant governor’s (L-G) office.
Kejriwal was addressing a gathering in Kirari after inaugurating 500 roads. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the AAP had failed to win a single seat. Th party had got a thumping majority a few months later in the Assembly polls.
“This time (2019) you should press jhadu (broom) button and chose the party that gave you 500 roads. Not the party that has tried to hamper our work,” Kejriwal said.
Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta, alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) knew that they were going to lose in 2019 and were hence indulging in a political blamegame.
“They (AAP) are frustrated and know they will lose. That is why they always pin blame on Centre. Infact, it is AAP govern- ment that has not implemented Centre’s schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Fourth Phase of Delhi Metro,” Gupta said.
AAP’S FOUNDATION DAY
The AAP will commemorate its fifth foundation day by organising an event at its party office in ITO on Monday. Arvind Kejriwal ,along with other activists of the then India Against Corruption, had launched the party on November 26, 2012, on the occasion of Constitution Day, following differences with Anna Hazare, who led the anti-graft movement.
“Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, will address workers at the party office,” said an AAP spokesperson. Last year AAP celebrated five years by organising its first national convention at Ramlila Maidan. The party ruling in Delhi is the principle opposition in Punjab where it has four MPs.
In Delhi,Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has three Rajya Sabha MPs.
The party has already announced its decision to contest 2019 Lok Sabha polls on all seats in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
