Warden arrested for sodomising 17-yr-old at rehabilita­tion centre

DEHRADUN:The Dehradun police Sunday arrested a 42-year-old man, employed as a warden at a drug rehabilita­tion centre in the city’s Sahaspur locality, for allegedly sodomising a 17-yearold boy staying there.

The incident came to light on Saturday after the boy’s mother lodged a complaint, police said.

Naresh Rathod, station house officer of the Sahaspur police station said the accused, identified as Manoj Jugran, a resident of Chakkuwala area, was arrested on Sunday afternoon.

“The woman said she had visited her son, who was admitted at the rehabilita­tion centre on August 11, on Saturday and found him distressed. She said upon making enquiries from him, the boy told her about the assault,” the police officer said.

As per the complaint, the accused had first sodmised the boy on the night of November 13.

“After sexually assaulting him that night, he threatened to kill him if he informed about the incident to anyone.

He began to regularly assault the boy until on November 23, when he managed to tell his mother about the ordeal,” Rathod said.

“As soon as we received a complaint, a case was registered against Jugran under relevant sections of the IPC. A search was conducted at the centre but he had fled by the time police reached there.

He was finally arrested on Sunday afternoon on the basis of a tip-off we received from an informer.

Jugran would be produced before the court on Monday,” the officer added. 2 MEN HELD FOR SODOMISING 12-YR-OLD BOY HALDWANI:Police in Haldwani on Sunday arrested two men for sexually harassing a 12-year-old boy late on Friday night at the hostel where they all live.

The two accused, both aged 19 and students at the Prakash Defence Academy, have been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, station officer of Bhotiya Padao police station PS Nagarkoti said.

wThe minor hails from Delhi and is a student of Class 7, police said. According to the complaint filed by his parents, who arrived in Haldwani on Saturday after being told about the harassment, the boy was allegedly sexually harassed by two students who called him into their room and threatened him not to report it.
