Tracking the poll rallies

-

With one week to go for state assembly elections in Telangana and Rajasthan, parties raise the pitch by bringing up hot button topics such as demonetisation, surgical strikes in Pakistan and Maoism in public rallies

Women store a little money hidden from their husbands to be used in times of emergency; even that money has been snatched by Modiji by implementing demonetization. Indian economy has been ruined because of it. Nobody could have ever thought that such a decision would be taken without thinking over it. ASHOK GEHLOT, Congress leader

There is no internal democracy in the Congress party. This (Congress party) has become a private firm for the Nehru and Gandhi family. They feel ashamed in saying ‘Bharat mata ki jai’. However, they feel proud to say ‘Sonia mata ki jai’. AMIT SHAH, BJP president

The people whom our brothers fight are called ‘revolutionaries’ by the other party.

Their (Congress party’s) star campaigner calls Naxalites and Maoists ‘revolutionaries’ and Rahul Gandhi does not even have the courtesy to (ask them to) shut their mouths and apologise to the nation. RAJYAVARDHAN RATHORE, Union minister

Right before the election, several parties are born—elephant, bull, horse, eagle, crow, but only this sign of the palm of the hand is the present and the future. SACHIN PILOT, Rajasthan Congress chief

India’s frontiers are very safe and secure. It is unfortunate that the Congress is asking for proof of the surgical strikes on Pakistan.

It is an insult to our military forces. RAJNATH SINGH, Union home minister

We will bring Modi to his knees and secure the steel factory at Bayyaram, as promised in the Bifurcation Act. We will display the spirit of the Telangana movement. K CHANDRASHEKAR RAO, Telangana chief minister
