Ludhiana DMCH student hangs himself from fan

A second-year MBBS student at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) committed suicide on Sunday by hanging self from a fan inside his hostel room here. The boy has been identified as Ishan Bhatia, 19, of Ranjit Nagar of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

LUDHIANA: A second-year MBBS student at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana, ended his life by hanging himself in his hostel room on Sunday, police said.

The student, Ishan Bhatia (19) hailed from Ranjit Nagar locality of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr).

After getting informatio­n, a team from the Division 8 police station reached the spot and started investigat­ion.

The body was sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem. They also informed his parents.

Station house officer (SHO) Mohan Lal said they are trying to ascertain the reason behind suicide.

Police questioned some of the deceased’s classmates, who claimed that he seemed to be under some pressure for the past few days.

He was not talking to anyone and preferred to stay in his room after attending classes and would come out for taking food only, they said.

Some of them even assumed that he had gone home.

When they went to call on him for food on Sunday evening, they found his room locked from inside.

When they peeped into the room, they saw his body hanging with the ceiling fan.
