‘I can break the jinx for Congress’

-

What do you think is your biggest achievement?

I have distributed all my MPLAD funds. The government of India has appreciated me as I was among the 35 MPs who managed to spend 100% of the funds.

Your opponents say you work only for the interests of Rai Sikhs?

It’s absolutely wrong. I enjoy complete backing of all the communities and have never differentiated voters on the basis of caste.

Why you became a rebel soon after becoming an MP in 2014?

My fight was for my pride. I challenged Sukhbir and they tried their best to finish my political career. They tried everything to malign my image but could not succeed.

Your rebel status has affected your performance as an MP. Ferozepur did not get any major project. Your take.

Who says so? Recently a passport centre was opened and a cancer hospital is also coming up for which the Centre is likely to issue grants in near future.

SAD claims your fight was only to ensure tickets…

No my fight was against the arrogance of Sukhbir and his team. I had resigned as an MLA to pave way to make Sukhbir an MLA in 2009. He never valued me and my sacrifice for him.

Are you seeking Congress ticket this time? Congress has not won this seat since 1985. Your take.

Yes, I am trying. Let’s see how things unfold. If I get a chance, I will break the jinx for the Congress.

You have also recently met SAD (Taksali) leaders. What if Congress denies ticket to you?

I respect SAD (Taksali) leaders as they are also fighting against the arrogance of Sukhbir.
