KARNAL : Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said Congress legislators would corner the government over its “failure” to address issues related to common man during the budget session of the state assembly beginning Wednesday.

“We would highlight the failures of the government. It has failed on all the fronts and could not start any major project in the state in the last five years,” Hooda told reporters here.

Hooda said the previous Congress government fulfilled the promise of a separate Sikh body in Haryana. But some people were against this decision as they wanted retain their control over all gurdwaras of Haryana, he said.

“Now, Sukhbir Singh Badal (SAD president) was coming to Haryana to divide the Sikhs of the state after the formation of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. But people should not get misled,” he added.

Hooda cautioned the people against “divisive forces” and stressed on the need for unity.

Replying a question on Tuesday, Hooda said the government should ensure all the support to the family members of the slain soldiers.

“The state government should provide all facilities and a government job to family members of the martyrs from Haryana,” he said. On the appointment of new president of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Hooda said, “The decision will be taken by party president Rahul Gandhi.”
