The two-time MLA, elected on INLD ticket in 2014, had switched over to the Congress ahead of Lok Sabha elections in May and later BJP. He is son of three-time MLA, Shakrullah Khan. INLD had filed a petition seeking his disqualification.
Constituency primer: Ferozepur Jhirka, a small town in Nuh district of Mewat, is considered as the most backward regions of Haryana. The segment is a part of Gurgaon parliamentary seat and is dominated by the Meo-Muslim community besides presence of sizeable Hindu voters. The historical town is located on the main Gurgaon-Alwar road, bordering Rajasthan.

2014: Naseem Ahmed of INLD defeated Mamman Khan, an independent, by over 3,000 votes.
2009: As INLD nominee, Ahmed got 42,824 votes against Mamman Khan of Congress who got 24,630 votes.
2005: Azad Mohammad of Congress defeated Shakrulla Khan, an independent, by 1723 votes.
How he performed: The constituency has been recognised as one of the poorest and most backward in the state due to lack of development and employment avenues.
