DESPITE REPEATED VISITS BY SGPC SECY TO OFFICE OF AMRITSAR DC, STATE GST REFUND WAS NOT RELEASED, CLAIMS LONGOWAL

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal on Sunday condemned the Punjab government for not fulfilling its promise to refund state GST amounting to ₹3.3 crore on langar for Golden Temple and other Sikh shrines in the state.

Reacting to a claim made by chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the SGPC president said, “As of today, the SGPC has not received a single penny on account of refund of GST on the behalf of the Punjab government.”

Longowal said SGPC had already filed two claims. “Despite repeated visits by SGPC secretary and auditor to the office of Amritsar deputy commissioner, the state GST refund was not released. The DC and excise and taxation commissioner have been approached on the phone about twelve times, but to no avail. It is regretful that on one hand the CM claims the money has been placed at the disposal of the DC to hand over to SGPC, but the district administration and excise and taxation department are stonewalling all efforts to release it.”

Stating that all this was part of record and the CM should check up, Longowal said no one should play politics on the issue.

SAD CHALLENGES CM ON GST REFUND TO SGPC

CHANDIGARH: Reacting to Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh branding union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal a compulsive liar, the SAD has challenged Captain to prove that a single penny had been released to the SGPC.

SAD leaders Prem Singh Chandumajra and Daljit Singh Cheema said, “You are giving statements without checking what your government is doing. This proves your inefficacy and failure.”

Instead Akali leaders asked the CM to prove that he was not a habitual liar by placing the receipt of ₹3.2 crore state GST refund, supposedly given to the SGPC, in public domain.”
