Assembly polls: 3 women among 22 on AAP’s 1st list
The party will launch a helpline for ticket seekers today
ROHTAK/GURUGRAM: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here on Sunday released a list of 22 candidates for the upcoming assembly polls in Haryana.
Three women have figured in the list released by AAP’s Haryana unit president Naveen Jaihind. In the Lok Sabha elections, AAP had an electoral understanding with the Jannayak Janta Party, an offshoot of the Indian National Lok Dal.
With little less than a month left for the assembly elections, AAP will be starting a helpline for people seeking the party’s ticket on Monday.
Sudhir Yadav, the party spokesperson, said that the helpline was aimed at giving easy access to those seeking to participate in electoral politics. All applications received on the helpline will be looked into and the applicant will be apprised about the result within a week.
“As long as a candidate is good, we will give him or her a ticket, regardless of other factors like caste or financial situation, which other parties take into consideration,” said Yadav.
“Anyone can call on the helpline and share their plans of contesting. We will assist them in filling up forms. We will assess the three Cs in the candidate, such as character, criminal history, and corruption cases, within the next seven days and take a call,” he added. So far, the party has kept all its options open and the final word on the number of seats it plans to contest will be out only after the assessment process is over. “We have announced candidates on 22 seats. The process of shortlisting candidates for the remaining seats is underway. Based on the applications we get, the number of candidates would change,” said Yadav.
WHO ALL ARE ON LIST
The candidates fielded by the AAP are Yogeshwar Sharma (Panchkula), Anshul Kumar Agarwal (Ambala City), Gurdev Singh Sura (Ladwa), Anoop Sandhu (Assandh), Rajkumar Pehal (Julana), Lakshya Garg (Fatehabad), Manjeet Ranga (Uklana), Sandeep Loura (Narnaund), Manoj Rathi (Hansi), Anoop Singh (Barwala) and Pawan Hindustani (Tosham).
The other candidates are Munipal Attrey (Garhi Sampla Kiloi ), Anita Ch hi kara( Ba had ur ga rh ), Ash wan iDulh era( Beri ), Ajay Sharma (Mahendergarh), Ranbir Singh Rathi (Gurugram), Karan Singh Dagar (Hodal), Kuldeep Kaushik (Palwal), Santosh Yadav (Faridabad NIT), Dharamvir Bhadana (Badkhal), Harinder Bhati (Ballabgarh) and Kumari Sumanlata Vashisth (Faridabad). The AAP had not contested the assembly polls in 2014.
The elections to 90 assembly seats in the state will be held on October 21 and the results will be declared on October 24.
