Opposition lacks public connect: Capt Abhimanyu

CHANDIGARH: Haryana finance minister Capt Abhimanyu on Sunday said the opposition parties in the state have failed to make their presence felt due to lack of public connect.

Speaking with the media here, the minister said that the issues raised by opposition leaders, including the Congress’, had no direct connect with the people of Haryana.

“Either the opposition parties have lost the pulse of the masses or their own credibility has eroded in the eyes of people,” he said.

Capt Abhimanyu, who will be seeking a re-election from Narnaund assembly constituency in Hisar, said the political situation was heavily loaded in BJP’s favour and there was a cogent reason for this “one-sided tilt” of the public in their favour.

“The BJP government in the state is well and truly connected with the people. The credibility of our government is high and results of the assembly elections will prove it,” the minister added.

Taking a dig at former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the finance minister said that the CLP leader has lost credibility and public connect because of his “conceit and corrupt” deeds.

“He never came out of his shell of arrogance. Hooda believes that he (and his family) has an eternal right to rule and use the dynasty card to further his ends. The new generation of voters, Hooda should know, does not succumb to dynastic politics,” Capt Abhimanyu said.

He added, “Look what the Congress did. It brought back Hooda as the CLP leader and removed Ashok Tanwar from the post of state Congress chief. The underlying message of these developments — dynastic politics rules in the Congress and a person like Tanwar, who does not have a political lineage, will remain an outcast in the party set up — is crystal clear and the public reads it.”

Blaming Hooda and his team for 2016 Jat quota violence, the finance minister said a deep political conspiracy was hatched to divide the society.

“Hooda’s team members were found to have been involved in this conspiracy,’’ he alleged.

The former chief minister, meanwhile, has accused the BJP government in the state of destroying the social fabric and creating caste fault lines.
