TARN TARAN : The module behind the September 5 Pandori Gola village blast in Tarn Taran district knew the procedure to make bombs. Police recovered a note which has information on how to make and use improvised explosive devices (IEDs). A police official, who was involved in the investigation, said the note has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team which will probe from where the accused managed to procure the bomb blueprint.

Two persons were killed and one injured when they were digging a pit to recover two bombs in an abandoned plot on the Tarn Taran-Khadoor Sahib link road near Pandori Gola village of the border district. Bikramjit Singh, 22, of Kadgill village, and Harpeeet Singh, 19, of Bachre village, died on the spot while Gurjant Singh, 27, was severely injured and lost his eyesight.

Seven accused — Gurjant, Harjit Singh, Manpreet Singh Mann, Chandeep Singh Khalsa, alias Gabbar Singh, Malkiat Singh, alias Shera, Maandeep Singh, alias Massa, Amritpal Singh and Amarjit Singh — were arrested by Punjab Police in the case, which now is being probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

On October 4, the NIA got the custody of Gurjant, Harjit and Amritpal and five other accused Manpreet, Chandeep, Malkiat, Maandeep and Amarjit were sent to judicial custody.

“Following the specifications mentioned in the note, the accused used to make bombs,” said a senior police official .

“Investigations suggest that Gurjant might have procured the note from Bikramjit Singh Panjwar, who is said to be in Austria since 2018. Gurjant has not been interrogated yet,” he added. The accused have also revealed that they were active in making low-intensity bombs since 2015.
