MULLANPUR DAKHA: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal launched a scathing attack on the Congress at an election rally in Savaddi Kalan in Dakha on Thursday, accusing ministers and MLAs of the regime of being involved in drug trade. Party candidate from Dakha, Manpreet Singh Ayali, was accompanying Sukhbir.

“The drug menace has increased as Congress MLAs are patronising drug peddlers and receiving a monthly cut in lieu of providing them police protection. Peddlers do not fear police as they enjoy the backing of ministers and MLAs,” he alleged. He also claimed that chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh had lost control over the functioning of the government. “DGP Dinkar Gupta does not answer calls. In such a scenario , who should the people address their grievances to,” he questioned.

TARGETS CONGRESS DAKHA CANDIDATE

Targeting Congress candidate from Dakha, Captain Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Sukhbir alleged that as officer on special duty (OSD) to Amarinder, Sandhu was responsible for denying due benefits to Punjabis. “People of the constituency must ask this OSD, why he denied SC scholarships to youth, cycles to girl students, mid-day meals to schoolchildren, shagun to under-privileged brides, jobs to youth and even sugarcane dues to farmers,” he claimed. Sukhbir refused to comment on the controversy between the Congress government and the SGPC over holding of the 550th birth anniversary function of Guru Nanak.
