Auto driver canvassing for independen­t attacked in Meham

CONGRESS LEGISLATOR ANAND SINGH DANGI’S AIDES BOOKED

ROHTAK : An auto driver who was canvassing for independen­t nominee from Meham, Balraj Kundu, was allegedly attacked with swords by a group of armed men at Ajaib village in Meham constituen­cy on Wednesday evening .

The incident took place when the victim, Surender of Madina village, was coming out of the village in his auto.

He alleged that Meham Congress MLA Anand Singh Dangi’s driver Naresh alias Gada and his aide Sudeep thrashed his and threatened him of dire consequenc­es if he continues to canvass for Kundu.

“When I came out of the village, the duo along with two more persons stopped my auto and attacked me with swords. They later fled the spot,” he added.

Surender was rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here and his condition is stated to be out of danger.

Meham police SHO Suresh Bhadana said that they have booked Naresh and Sudeep under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

However, Dangi was not available for his comments despite repeated phone calls and text messages by HT.

In another incident, unidentifi­ed assailants fired at a Jannayak Janata party (JJP) leader’s farmhouse in Ganaur on Thursday.

The assailants fired at JJP Ganaur nominee Randhir Malik’s farm house and fled the spot. However, no one was injured in the incident.

The police reached the spot and initiated investigat­ions into the matter.
