Kin seeks govt help to bring back body

BHOPAL:Family members of a software engineer from Madhya Pradesh who reportedly died in a mishap in Thailand sought help from the Prime Minister’s Office and the external affairs ministry in bringing her mortal remains back to India.

The woman, Pragya Paliwal, 30, was from Chhatarpur district in Bundelkhan­d region in Madhya Pradesh. She was working with a company in Bengaluru and was in Thailand to attend a training programme, according to Deepak Paliwal, her brother.

Deepak said his sister died in a car accident on Wednesday night. The family met Congress MLA Alok Chaturvedi and also district administra­tion authoritie­s to seek help from the PMO and the external affairs ministry.

Chaturvedi, in turn, sought help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar.

Chaturvedi said he has also informed chief minister Kamal Nath. Meanwhile, in reply to a tweet, Jaishankar assured assistance to the family.

“Our Embassy @IndiainTha­iland (in Thailand) is in touch with the bereaved family and is providing all assistance in this difficult time,” the minister tweeted.

Nath, in a tweet, said his government would make all necessary arrangemen­ts and also talk to the external affairs ministry in this regard.

Deepak Paliwal said on Thursday, “...we have got assurance from the ministry of external affairs that it would help us and for that, we have to reach Delhi. Hence, we have left for Delhi.”
