Union home secy reviews security arrangements in Sultanpur Lodhi
SULTANPUR LODHI : Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla on Monday reviewed security preparedness in Sultanpur Lodhi for the 550th Guru Nanak birth anniversary of Guru Nank, along with a high-level delegation of officials from the state government. The Union secretary was accompanied by chief principal secretary to chief minister, Punjab, Suresh Kumar, director general of police Dinkar Gupta and Border Security Force (BSF) director general V K Johri.
After paying obeisance at Gurdwara Shri Ber Sahib, Union home secretary visited the tent city near village Machi-Jova and reviewed security preparations along with the arrangements for arrival of VVIPs. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah are among the high-profile personalities scheduled to attend the functions of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak at Sultanpur Lodhi between Nov 1 -12.
Union home secretary while inspecting parking sites directed the officials to ensure foolproof security for pilgrims by adopting restriction policy.
Punjab director general of police, Dinkar Gupta, informed the home secretary that Punjab Police has divided the whole area into 15 sectors where 9 huge parking lots have been set up to facilitate the pilgrims.
He also said that detailed security arrangements have already been made by the police and nearly 5,000 police personnel will be deployed during the functions. Kapurthala deputy commissioner, DPS Kharbanda, said that development projects are near completion and will be completed before the deadline.
CM TO DEDICATE DEVP PROJECTS WORTH ₹400 CR
Suresh Kumar on Monday said that CM Captain Amarinder Singh will dedicate development projects worth ₹400 crore to the people of Sultanpur Lodhi on October 23, besides laying down the foundation stone of ‘Guru Nanak Marg’. The marg will stretch from Sultanpur Lodhi to Dera Baba Nanak.
