GURUGRAM: With the date of voting nearing, candidates in Gurgaon and Badshahpur assembly seats have intensified their campaigning on the ground and are holding multiple meetings to woo the voters.

On Tuesday, the candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress assured the residents that whatever they were promising would be delivered in the next five years.

Sukhbir Kataria, Congress candidate from Gurgaon constituency, met the residents in Sun City colony, and promised that their issues regarding erratic power supply, poor power infrastructure and increased bills would be resolved. He also said that the entire area would be given a facelift so that quality of life improves. The Congress leader also said that if he wins, the law and order situation in the area would be improved by deploying more policemen.

In Sector 14, the residents apprised Kataria of the delay in construction of the community centre. On this issue, he assured them that if the Congress wins, the demand for a community centre, open gym and a mini stadium will be fulfilled. He also met residents in sectors 17-A, B, C.

On the other hand, BJP’s Sudhir Singla, while addressing a public meeting in Aggarwal Dharmshala, said that he would ensure that promises made by him were delivered in the next five years. In his manifesto, Singla has promised to transform health, education and transport sectors and make the city pollution free. “The BJP manifesto has been formed on the 1.70 lakh suggestions given by people in 90 constituencies. We have made 248 promises and we will deliver them,” he said.

Meanwhile in Badshahpur, Congress candidate Rao Kamalbir Singh held a series of meetings in Farrukhnagar, where he assured the people that problems faced by them in rural areas would be resolved once Congress came to power. “I will ensure that government schools are upgraded in villages to a higher level. Jobs are created in private sector for locals and health services are improved,” he said, adding that the visit of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday had given a major boost to campaign of party candidates.

The campaign of BJP’s Manish Yadav also got a boost on Tuesday evening after chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar addressed a rally in Kankrola village.
