8,600 washrooms to be installed for pilgrims in Sultanpur Lodhi

SULTANPUR LODHI : For the convenienc­e of pilgrims coming to Sultanpur Lodhi during celebratio­ns of 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak from November 1 to 12, the Kapurthala administra­tion will install over 8,600 washrooms in the city.The mobile washrooms will be installed at 13 different locations, including over 4, 000 units in the tent city. “4,500 workers have been assigned to ensure the cleanlines­s of these washrooms. Special arrangemen­ts have also been made for handicappe­d pilgrims,” said deputy commission­er DPS Kharbanda.

Besides, around 300 water tanks will be installed in the city to provide drinking water.

DRIVE AGAINST STRAY ANIMALS

Meanwhile, the district administra­tion has appealed the local pet owners living near Gurdwara Ber Sahib to shift their pet animals, especially dogs, to some other places during the celebratio­ns so that these do not cause any harm to pilgrims.

4, 000 POLICEMEN TO KEEP VIGIL IN CITY

To ensure safety of visitors and VIP guests, Punjab Police will deploy over 4,000 cops to guard the city during the celebratio­ns, said senior superinten­dent of police (SSP) Satinder Singh. For surveillan­ce, over 1200 CCTV cameras will be installed across the city.

2.5KM HERITAGE WALK

JALANDHAR: A 2.5km heritage walk, that will begin from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk and commence on Gurdwara Shri Ber Sahib, will cover all historic shrines in Sultanpur Lodhi, said deputy commission­er DPS Kharbanda.

NEW LANGAR HALL AT NANKANA SAHIB IN PAK

AMRITSAR: A new langar hall (community kitchen) was inaugurate­d at Gurdwara Janam Asthan at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan in the wake of 550th birth anniversar­y of Guru Nanak.
