STRIKING BANGLADESH PLAYERS’ 11-POINT DEMAND

Cricketers Welfare Associatio­n of Bangladesh president, secretary have to step down. Players will elect next office bearers. Dhaka Premier League has to go back to previous model of open-market transfers with players having the freedom of negotiatin­g salaries. Franchise-based model of Bangladesh Premier League has to be restored next season. Players should be allowed to choose their base prices. Local cricketers should receive payments at par with overseas. Match fee of first-class cricketers should be 1 lakh Taka, a hike of around 50%. Facilities like gym, indoor and ground must improve. Coach, physios and trainers must be appointed throughout the year. Quality of balls in first-class cricket must improve. The daily allowance of 1,500 Taka must increase. Players’ travel for games must be by air. Centrally contracted players’ pool must be increased to 30 with raised retainers. Salaries of groundsmen, local coaches, umpires, physios and trainers must be raised.

There are 2 domestic first-class tournament­s (Bangladesh Cricket League & National Cricket League) but one each for oneday cricket (DPL) and T20 cricket (BPL). One more one-day and T20 tournament must be introduced. A proper calendar for domestic tournament­s must be put in place.

Pending payments of BPL and DPL should be cleared by the stipulated time in future.

The rule that a player cannot play more than two franchise-based tournament­s in a year must be overturned.
