1st phase of Census 2021 to begin from May 1 in Haryana
THE SECOND PHASE OF POPULATION ENUMERATION WILL START FROM FEBRUARY 9, 2021 AND END ON FEBRUARY 28
CHANDIGARH: The first phase of Census 2021 in Haryana — houselisting operations and housing census — will be conducted from May 1, 2020 to June 15, 2020, wherein nearly 58,000 enumerators and supervisors will collect data.
Addressing a conference of divisional commissioners and other senior officials, including principal census officers, to review the preparedness for Census 2021, wherein census commissioner Vivek Joshi was also present, chief secretary Keshni Anand Arora on Friday described census as one of the most credible source of information regarding the socio-cultural and demographic data.
She said for the first time in history, census data would be collected digitally and directed the officials to make meticulous and dedicated efforts for the mass publicity so that the state people could be made aware of the same.
During house-listing operations, questions on the quality of houses, amenities available to households and assets possessed by them would be collected, she said.
The second phase — population enumeration — would be conducted between February 9, 2021 and February 28, 2021, with a revisional round from March 1 to 5. Registrar general and census commissioner Vivek Joshi said census was the largest administrative and statistical exercise in the world. “Census data would be captured through specially designed mobile apps. It is for the first time that all census activities and progress would be monitored on real-time basis through the Census Monitoring and Management System (CMMS),” he added.
Joshi said for Census 2021, no documents would be sought from citizens and they will be required to answer only a few questions.
