Construction work on Delhi-Ambala route to hit rail traffic today
AMBALA: The Delhi Division of the Northern Railway has decided to cancel six trains, including four passenger, on the Delhi-Ambala route on Sunday to facilitate the construction of a bridge at Shahabad Markanda station in Kurukshetra.
Amritsar-New Delhi-Amritsar express, Ambala-Kurukshetra-Ambala passenger and Ambala-Kurukshetra-Ambala passenger will remain cancelled on Sunday. Pathankot superfast express that runs from Delhi to Pathankot and vice versa will be diverted and run via Jakhal-Dhuri-Ludhiana on February 16. Amritsar-Katihar (Amrapali) express will also be diverted via Ambala-Saharanpur-Meerut-Khurja. Five other trains will be rescheduled and regulated on the route.
In another exercise, the Ambala division will put in effect a traffic block on Sunday for three hours which will affect half a dozen trains on the route.
Ambala-Bathinda passenger will remain partially cancelled between Ambala and Patiala, while Ambala-Nangaldam passenger will be regulated for 50 minutes between Sirhind and Ropar.
Departure timings of four trains have also been changed. Ambala-Nizamuddin passenger’s journey will begin at 4pm; Ambala-Jalandhar City passenger will originate at 3.05pm; Nangaldam-Ambala passenger will originate at 1.30pm and the Ambala-Kurukshetra passenger will originate at 5.40pm. Senior divisional commercial manager Hari Mohan said, “A three-hour block will be observed on down line on Ambala-Saharanpur section from 1.45pm to 4.45pm on Ambala-Ludhiana; on UP line from 12.10pm to 3.10pm and on Sirhind-Amb Andaura section from 10.30am to 1.30pm.” HTC
