CHANDIGARH: The opposition Congress once again put the ruling BJP-JJP coalition government on the mat over the issues pertaining to the alleged corruption for the third consecutive day during the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday.

Senior Congress MLA Kiran Choudhry, who was first to speak during the Zero Hour, alleged that a land of a prestigious school in Bhiwani was being sold to “land sharks”. She added that even BJP MP Dharambir had written to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in this regard.

Stating that she too had written to Khattar in the context, she demanded that such ‘unscrupulous” deals be checked.

The chief minister instantly reacted to Choudhry’s charges and said that according to available information, there was said to be some dispute in the management of the school and that the government would act sternly if there would be any unscrupulous deal. Congress MLA Neeraj Sharma alleged that Faridabad had earned the notoriety of being one of the most polluted cities in the country. He also pointed out to the alleged irregularities in the power sector.

JJP MLA Ram Kumar Gautam, who sought Punjab pay scales for police personnel of Haryana, also alleged corrupt practices in the urban local bodies department.

Congress MLAs Geeta Bhukkal and Kuldeep Vats also raised the issue of communal harmony and sought pardon to a number of “innocent” youths who were languishing in jails in connection with the violence during 2016 Jat quota stir.

THRASHING OF WAKF BOARD EMPLOYEE

Congress MLA Aftab Ahmed raised the issue of a Wakf Board employee who, along with his family members, was allegedly assaulted by a mob in Rewari recently after his car was involved in an accident with a Haryana Roadways bus.

As Ahmed narrated the incident and was backed by MLA Mohammad Ilyas, speaker Gian Chand Gupta asked him not to give a religious colour to a case of road accident. Ahmed, however, asked the chief minister to take cognisance of such incidents.

Khattar asked all the members in the House to refrain from describing such incidents in a manner which could have potential to flare up things. “Yet, if such an incident has taken place, it is condemnable. We will get the incident probed into and take the guilty to the task,” he said.
