CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government provided funds to the tune of about Rs 84.29 crore to 602 gaushalas in the state from 2015-16 to 2019-20. This was stated by animal husbandry minister JP Dalal during the question hour on Wednesday.

Responding to a query from BJP MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap, the minister said that about 4.11 lakh cattle were housed in these 602 gaushalas across the state.

As per the reply tabled in the assembly, a sum of about Rs 4.49 crore was given as grant to gaushalas in 2015-16.

The government funding increased to Rs 5.63 crore in 2016-17 and further to Rs 11.75 crore in 2017-18. The grant saw a massive jump in 2018-19 when it was enhanced to Rs 40.79 crore. In the current fiscal year, the state government has given a sum of Rs 21.60 crore to the guashalas till February 20, the minister said.

CORRUPTION CASES

Home minister Anil Vij in response to a question by INLD MLA Abhay Chautala said 811 cases under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act were registered by the state police and the state vigilance bureau from 2015 to 2019 and 112 accused have been convicted.

The minister said that 165 persons accused under the PC Act have been acquitted by the courts. The INLD MLA, however, said that it was quite surprising that the state government did not challenge the acquittals in corruption cases in a higher court of law.

In reply to a question, deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala,

said that the state government will remove the railway gates on junctions by constructing railway over bridge (ROB) or under bridge.

Power minister Ranjit Singh said that 4,463 villages in the state were getting 24-hour power supply under ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ scheme.
