ONE MORE PUT UNDER WATCH IN JAMMU
JAMMU : With the isolation of one more person showing symptoms of coronavirus on Sunday, the number of suspected patients kept under observation in Jammu has reached three.
As per the reports, two persons with travel history to Italy were examined in Jammu on Sunday. While one of them was allowed to go home after preliminary examination, the other having flu-like symptoms was admitted in an isolation facility at Yatri Niwas in Bhagwati Nagar as a precautionary measure.
The Yatri Niwas is a base camp created for lodging and boarding of Amarnath pilgrims.
The blood samples of these individuals had been sent for analysis to National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi.
While the final reports of two other coronavirus suspects admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, is still awaited, both are likely to test positive.
About the delay in the reports, Dr Shafqat Khan, the nodal officer for coronavirus prevention in Jammu and Kashmir, said, “We have been expecting the report since Saturday. In the next few days, we will start testing facilities in Jammu and Srinagar.”
‘LEH MAN DIED OF UTI NOT COVID-19’
A senior official from Ladakh said the 73-year-old man from Leh, who was hospitalised on March 7, died of urinary tract infection (UTI) and not coronavirus on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Ali Mohammad of Yaukuma Chochuk village, had high fever too, commissioner secretary Rigzin Samphel said.
