45 booked for violating curfew orders in Amritsar

AMRITSAR/BATHINDA : Police on Monday booked 45 persons for violating curfew orders in Amritsar.

Most of the booked include shopkeeper­s of Jandiala Guru town who kept their shops opened even after the imposition of the curfew in the district, police said. A case under Sections 188, 269 and 34 of the IPC has been registered.

SSP (rural) Vikramjit Singh Duggal said police teams enforced the curfew in the Amritsar rural district soon after the order was issued. But some shopkeeper­s kept their establishm­ents opened and defied the district magistrate’s order,” he said. He said no one would be allowed to defy the restrictio­ns.

21 BOOKED IN TARN TARAN

Twenty-one people were booked for defying the curfew orders in Tarn Taran.

Police said they have registered 15 separate cases in this regard at various police stations of the district. Most of the booked are those who were roaming aimlessly outside their homes.

SOME DEFY GOVT ADVISORY IN BATHINDA

BATHINDA: A day after Janata Curfew was successful­ly observed in the country, a section of residents here on Monday were seen defying the national advisory to stay home.

While all non-essential establishm­ents were shut, people were seen huddled around in several residentia­l and commercial areas. Besides this, movement of private vehicles was witnessed in various pockets.

Deputy commission­er B Srinivasan and senior superinten­dent of police Nanak Singh reached at Dhobi Bazar around 11am with a large group of police personnel and led a flag march on foot. The DC said all establishm­ents, including medical stores and groceries, will remain shut till further orders. He said journalist­s can go out for their work commitment­s on production of identity cards issued by the state government.
