PUNJAB MINISTERS, MPS PITCH IN
SANGRUR : Amid curfew, Punjab education and public works minister Vijay Inder Singla distributed ration, masks and sanitisers in Sangrur and Bhawanigarh towns, along with Naraingarh, Jolian and Bimbad villages, on Saturday. This was the third consecutive day of his distributing ration. “Daily wagers are stuck. Such distribution will continue,” he added.
RANDHAWA FLAGS OFF 4 MEDICINE VANS
Punjab minister for cooperation and jails, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, flagged off four vans of the Red Cross carrying medicines from Gurdaspur. The vans will go to Gurdaspur, Batala, Dinanagar and Dera Baba Nanak for providing door-step delivery.
The government will give 20% discount. Gurdaspur DC Mohammad Ishfaq said the administration would provide medicines worth Rs 10 lakh a day through Red Cross vans across the district during curfew.
Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board chairman Raman Bahl also handed over 300 food kits to Gurdaspur deputy commissioner for distribution among the needy.
₹50 LAKH EACH FROM MPLAD
Congress Faridkot MP Mohammad Sadique has allocated ₹50 lakh from his Member Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Scheme Fund to the Faridkot district administration. Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary has also sanctioned ₹50 lakh, of which ₹20 two lakh has already been released to the Jalandhar civil hospital.
Leader of opposition and Dirba Aam Aadmi Party MLA Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that minister Singla was trying to take political mileage.
