5 more test positive in J&K
JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Five more people tested positive for coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, taking the total number of cases in the Union territory to 75, principal secretary and government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said.
“Out of the five new cases, four are in Kashmir region and one in Jammu,” Kansal said while addressing mediapersons.
He said the four new cases in Kashmir were in contact with previous positive cases.
“In case of Jammu, authorities are working to trace the contacts. As many as 70 cases are active out of the total 75. Two positive cases from Jammu and one from Kashmir have recovered and were discharged. Till now, two people have died in the Valley,” Kansal said. He said one more positive case from Jammu is likely to be released after recovery.
“As many as 22,993 people in the UT are under active surveillance and 1,218 have been tested,” he said. The administration has also identified 34 “red zones” across the UT which have been taken up for aggressive contact tracing, active surveillance and testing.
49 SAMPLES FROM LADAKH NEGATIVE
The 49 samples sent from Ladakh have tested negative, Ladakh UT spokesperson Rigzin Samphel said on Friday. “Four more positive cases have now tested negative in Ladakh, taking the total number of patients who have recovered to 7,” he said.
On Thursday, a woman had tested positive in Ladakh, taking the count to 14 in the UT.
