State logs another biggest-ever single-day spike as 514 found infected

CHANDIGARH: Twelve people succumbed to Covid-19 on Monday in Haryana, while the virus infected 514 people of 19 districts in the last 24 hours, the health department bulletin stated.

CHANDIGARH: Twelve people succumbed to the coronaviru­s disease (Covid-19) on Monday in Haryana, while the virus infected 514 people of 19 districts in the last 24 hours, the health department bulletin stated.

Six patients in Gurugram, five in Faridabad and one in Jhajjar were among the 12 people who lost their battle against virus, raising the number of dead in the state to 100.

Among Haryana’s districts, Gurugram (37) has witnessed the highest death toll, followed by Faridabad (33). Among the 100 people succumbing to the infection, 68 are male and 32 female.

With 514 fresh cases on Monday, the state recorded yet another sharp single-day spike in cases, taking the Haryana’s tally to 7,722.

Gurugram also topped the list of districts with maximum fresh cases on Monday by registerin­g 183 infections, followed by other two NCR districts of Faridabad (128) and Sonepat (63).

Other districts where corona carriers were detected are Jhajjar (9), Nuh (2), Ambala (4), Panipat

(3), Panchkula (1), Jind (2), Karnal (18), Sirsa (5), Fatehabad (10), Bhiwani (20), Rohtak (21), Mahenderga­rh (13), Hisar (8), Rewari (18), Kaithal (2) and Kurukshetr­a (4).

No fresh cases were reported from Palwal, Yamunanaga­r and Charkhi Dadri on Monday, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, the number of patients who have recovered from the disease stood at 3,565, while the total number of active cases came down to 4,057 from 4,117 on Sunday.

Even as the health bulletin mentioned four cases in Kurukshetr­a, the local administra­tion said three women and four men were tested positive in the district. Most of the new patients had a travel history to Delhi and Gurugram.

A four-month-old boy and 11-year-old girl were among those tested positive in Karnal, while two cases were recorded in Kaithal.

Eight people were found infected in Panipat, while as many cases were reported from Ambala. Yamunanaga­r saw seven new infections on Monday as well.

A 36-year-old man from Patarwali village in Bhiwani, who worked as a transporte­r in Noida, died due to coronaviru­s on Monday evening, Bhiwani district coordinato­r for Covid-19 Dr Rajesh said.

COVID-19 PATIENTS INCLUDED IN AYUSHMAN SCHEME

Haryana health minister Anil Vij has said that Covid-19 patients have been included in the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

The health minister said golden cards of more than 22 lakh people of the state have been made under the scheme which have been 100% linked with Aadhaar.

More than 1.12 lakh patients of the state have been treated under this scheme and the state government has so far spent about Rs 135 crore.

The cards under Ayushman Bharat Yojana are made free of cost in all government and empanelled private hospitals of the state.
