Virus shows no sign of stopping in Haryana, cases go past 9,000

CHANDIGARH: Four coronaviru­s patients in Haryana succumbed to the respirator­y illness on Thursday, taking the state’s death toll to 134.

Three persons who died on Thursday were from Faridabad district, while one was from Gurugram.

About 57% of the patients who have perished to the contagion had co-morbiditie­s (an existing disease or medical condition).

As per a medical bulletin, 386 fresh cases were reported from 16 districts on Thursday, taking cumulative number of infections to 9,218. The number of active Covid-19 patients was 4,538.

Six districts – Kaithal, Jind, Mahenderga­rh, Sirsa, Charkhi Dadri and Nuh – did not report any new case on Thursday.

604 MORE PATIENTS RECOVER

With 604 patients recovering from the disease on Thursday, 4,556 patients — about 50 % of the total infected people — have recovered from the disease so far.

There were 55 critically ill patients, including 16 on ventilator support, across 12 health facilities in the state.

55% FRESH CASES FROM GURUGRAM, SONEPAT AND FARIDABAD

About 55% of the fresh cases reported in the state came from three NCR districts of Gurugram (129), Faridabad (35) and

Sonepat (51).

In fact, Gurugram with 1,768 active cases and Faridabad not too far behind with 1,200 such cases, accounted for 65% of the total active cases across the state on Thursday.

32 MORE TEST +VE IN ROHTAK

Among other districts, Rohtak reported 32 fresh cases followed by Ambala (25), Bhiwani (24), Rewari (23), Palwal and Karnal (12 each), Yamunanaga­r and

Jhajjar (9), Kurukshetr­a (8), Hisar and Fatehabad (6), Panchkula (3) and Panipat (2). Though the medical bulletin mentioned limited cases, seven people tested positive in Panipat, CMO Sant Lal Verma said.
