POLITICS OVER PANACEA

Soon after Ramdev came out with an Ayurvedic medicine for Covid-19, the opposition started clamouring for its ban. The medicine was banned in some states without a valid reason. A vaccine may not be available for a long time, and the government should have at least allowed the medicine a trial. It should have been tested on all categories of patients and the results would have been apparent in two weeks. Had the medicine failed, it could have been banned. However, the government perhaps overreacted. Moreover, the medicine’s contents are ayurvedic and harmless. Mahesh Chander
