AAP behind attack on MP Bittu, other Cong leaders: Amarinder MAINTAIN PEACE: CM TO FARMERS
PATIALA : Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of perpetrating an attack on Congress leaders, including Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu and MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, who were manhandled at the Delhi border.
Speaking on the sidelines of a function to mark the National Girl Child Day in Patiala, the CM said “This was done by none other than the AAP which has a camp office near the gurdwara where the Congress leaders were attacked. The AAP must not forget that such things are unacceptable in a democracy.”
Rejecting allegations of Khalistani funding to farmers, he said Punjabis sitting across the world are sending donations for
the cause of the peasantry.
“There is no Khalistani angle to the attack. The AAP must not forget that if it happens to Congress leaders, it may happen to its own,” he said.
He also lashed out at the AAP for giving “misleading press statements” on new agriculture laws and raking non-issues through their newly appointed Punjab affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha whom he termed as “politically novice”.
CHANDIGARH: Chief minister Amarinder termed the proposed Republic Day tractor rally by farmers a testimony to the celebration of the Indian Republic and its constitutional ethos, and appealed to the farmers to ensure peace as the agitation has been so far. “Peace has been the hallmark of farmers’ democratic protests all these months, and should remain integral to your agitation,” said the CM, in his Republic Day eve message.
Also, Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal said peaceful and disciplined conduct of the tractor march on Tuesday will be the harbinger of victory for our farmers. Badal said he was confident that the march will be a peaceful event.
