3 held for Y’nagar man’s murder 45 days after he went missing
AMBALA: Nearly 45 days after 28-year-old Azim, who worked at a chemist shop, went missing in Yamunanagar, police have arrested three men on murder charge.
“The accused killed Azim as he was in a relationship with one of their nieces,” superintendent of police Kamaldeep Goyal told the media on Tuesday.
Police are trying to identify Azim’s body from among the unidentified bodies found in the river since the day he went missing, but his bike has been recovered from the Yamuna river, he added.
The three accused are Sharafat Ali, Israr alias Bhura and Adil, all locals.
Goyal said on January 9, Ashraf of Chandpur complained to the Gandhi Nagar police that his younger brother Azim was missing for two days. Police registered a case and started investigations into the matter.
“Azim was killed and his body, along with his bike, was thrown into the Yamuna river near Khurdi village. A woman had called him to meet her near Gaba Hospital the day he went missing. Azim reached and the accused abducted him. He was strangled and body thrown into the river,” Goyal said.
The superintendent of police said DNA profiling of the unidentified bodies will be done to identify Azim’s.
“We will interrogate the woman who had called Azim and try to establish if she was party to the crime or not,” he said.
CIA-1 in-charge Rakesh Kumar said the trio was arrested on Sunday and presented before a court the next day which sent them to fourday police remand.
