SKM leaders seek thorough probe in Tikri rape case
OBJECT TO REGISTRATION OF CASE AGAINST FOUR PEOPLE APART FROM TWO MAIN ACCUSED
ROHTAK: The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) leaders on Monday objected to registration of case against four people apart from two main accused in connection with rape of a 25-yearold woman from West Bengal, who later died of Covid-19 at a private hospital in Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh on April 30.
Addressing a video conference, SKM leader Yogendra
Yadav said the victim’s father had lodged a complaint of sexual assault against two persons but police had implicated four more persons, including two women, in the FIR.
“We want a thorough probe in the case and want strict action against the two accused if they are found guilty in the investigation. Police have registered a case against four persons, of whom two are the whistleblowers. How will police probe the case if they have booked eye witnesses as accused?” he said.
The victim’s father said that his daughter told him about the sexual assault when he met her at the private hospital in
Bahadurgarh on April 26, four days before her death.
Have started night patrolling: BKU
BKU (Ugrahan) president Joginder Ugrahan said measures have been taken to ensure safety of women at Tikri protesting site.
“We have started patrolling at night to ensure safety of women,” he added.
Bahadurgarh station house officer Vijay Kumar said they have started investigation into the case and are collecting evidence.
“If four persons, who were framed in the FIR are innocent, we will exclude them. Everything will be cleared once the accused appear before police. No arrest has been made so far,” he added.
In a video, one of the two main accused said police and government are trying to defame the farmers and he is ready to face probe.
