State to get 12.5 lakh vaccine doses for June

Punjab will receive at least 12.5 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses under the state and central quota for the month of June.

According to state’s nodal officer for vaccinatio­n procuremen­t Vikas Garg, under the Government of India’s quota meant for 45+ category, 5.88 lakh doses will be received by June 15.

“We have received the schedule for arrival of Covishield till June 15 from the GoI. We are expecting more jabs in this category in the second half of the month,” said Garg.

Under the state quota, for which purchases have been made by the Punjab government, 7 lakh doses will be received.

The nodal officer said that out of 45,53,187 doses administer­ed in Punjab, 41,40,179 are of Covishield and 4,13,008 of Covaxin.

These include 38,01,062 people who got the first dose and 7,52,125 who got the second dose.

In terms of categories, the highest number of 32, 83, 848 vaccinated people fall in the 45+ age group, while the number of frontline workers inoculated is 9,63,881 and the number of health workers stands at 3,05,458. These include 28,958 people who got the jab at private centres, out of whom 21,625 have got Covishield and 7,343 have been administer­ed Covaxin.

The nodal officer in the 18-44 age group , 86,101 persons with co-morbiditie­s, including 2,520 jail inmates, 3,01,981 constructi­on workers and their families, 64,395 family members of health workers and 1,103 private industrial workers have been vaccinated.
