5 Kashmir districts put in red category
Apart from this, 10 districts in Jammu division were put under the orange category
JAMMU: Two days ahead of the lockdown deadline which comes to an end on the morning of May 31, the state executive committee, headed by outgoing chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, on Saturday put five districts of Kashmir in the red category.
They are Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam and Kupwara.
Similarly, the SEC has put Lakhanpur containment zone on NH-44 with a buffer of 500m radius (gateway to J&K) and either side of the Jawahar tunnel in the red category.
Srinagar, Shopian, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Bandipore besides all 10 districts of Jammu province have been put under the orange category.
Till date, no district in the UT falls under the green category.
“The categorisation of districts into red, orange and green zones will be followed for the purpose of implementation of permitted activities in the respective districts as per a separate order to be issued by the SEC. The classification will be based on assessment of total case load, total positivity rate, vaccination status, and compliance with Covid appropriate behaviour,” read the order.
“These factors will be monitored and will be the basis for relaxing restrictions in the future. This classification will be reviewed periodically and any further modification will be made by the J&K government,” it read.
Official sources in the administration said that a review of the lockdown will be taken on Sunday in accordance with the status of the districts.
On May 22, L-G Manoj Sinha had extended Covid lockdown till 7am on May 31. Taking to Twitter, he had relayed the information.
