ACCUSED HAD A STRAINED RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS WIFE AND BLAMED HER RELATIVE FOR INSTIGATING HER AGAINST HIM

GURUGRAM: A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a sixyear-old relative over a grudge he had with the victim’s parents, the police said.

Police identified the suspect as Guddu Kumar Sahni, a resident of Basai Enclave in Sector 10. Police said Sahni had a strained relationship with his wife and blamed her relative, who lived in the vicinity and visited them often, for the misunderstandings between them.

After Sahni’s wife had returned to her parent’s house in Samastipur of Bihar following a fight in June, he blamed the relative for instigating her.

To seek revenge, he kidnapped her child and strangulated him to death in a local park, the police said.

Preet Pal Sangwan, the assistant commissioner of police (crime), said, “The suspect’s wife went to her parent’s place in June; this was a routine affair. Sahni used to think that her family members instigated her against him.”

The murder was discovered by the police on July 23, when the boy’s parents filed a missing person report with the Sector 10 police.

In the complaint, the man said that he and his wife used to work as daily labourers and they left their four children at home.

However, on July 22, one of his children was missing.

The police said that Sahni’s father-in-law took his daughter to Panipat after she complained of physical assault.

“Sahni held the relative responsible for the issues and planned to take revenge,” said Sangwan.

During questioning, the suspect told the police that he lured the boy from a nearby park on July 22, strangulated him to death, and smashed his face and head with a brick to hide his identity, the police said. On July 23, the police recovered the body and the brick used in the crime.

A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Sector 10 police station and the body was handed over to the family members after an autopsy.

The suspect was produced before a court on Saturday and lodged in 14-day judicial custody. Police said it will build a strong case.
