TThe Prime Minister has made the self-reliant India plan a reality by laying the foundation stone of a factory that has been closed for 26 years. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the work of the plant is satisfactory. The state government has decided that no hindrance will be allowed in the welfare schemes of farmers and youth. Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh

he new plant of the fertilizer factory being built by Hindustan Urea Rasayan Limited (HURL) in Gorakhpur will not only provide cheap urea fertilizers to the farmers but will also provide direct and indirect employment to more than 10,000 people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are credited for restarting the fertilizer factory which was closed for 26 years. As an MP, Yogi Adityanath raised his voice in the parliament many times regarding the closed factory. As a result, the foundation stone of the new plant was laid by PM Narendra Modi in the year 2016, bringing to life the factory that remained closed for two and a half decades. Under the supervision of Japan's Toyo Company, the work of the plant is in the final stages.

The fertilizer factory, which started on April 20, 1968, remained the vehicle of progress of Purvanchal for 22 years, but on June 10, 1990, following an agitation after an accident, the factory was completely closed. The compost factory, readied in record time is proposed to be inaugurated by PM Modi in the month of October. About 90 per cent of the work on the fertilizer factory has been completed. The new plant will produce 3850 tonnes of neem coated urea per day. The new plant is being set up in 215 acres of the campus spread over 993.75 acres. About 100 acres has been developed as a green belt in an eco-friendly campus. Neem coated urea made from a natural gas method will be produced. Natural gas will be available from the gas pipeline laid up to Jagdishpur-Haldia. The tower installed in the urea plant is 149.5 meters high, which is the tallest among the fertilizer factories of Asia. The rubber dam made with Korean technology will meet the water requirements of the plant. Preference will be given to the youth of Purvanchal for employment. Marketing officials in HURL say that 14 dealers have been tied up in Purvanchal for the sale of fertilizers. There are about 200 retailers under each dealer. Gorakhpur manufactured urea will be supplied to the whole of Uttar Pradesh as well as to Bihar. In order to make fertilizer penetration among the farmers of Purvanchal, the fertilizer factory management had procured 28 hundred metric tonnes of urea named Ujjwala from Mumbai last year. This manure was sold to retailers in the name of Gorakhpur factory for Rs 260 per 45 kg sack.

Due to the fertilizer factory, the prices of land in the surrounding 10 km radius have increased. Property dealers are launching their projects by calling the fertilizer factory a milestone. The GDA is also planning an integrated township in Manbela as well as the International Cricket Stadium, right next to the fertilizer factory. Chiluatal, which meets the water requirement of the fertilizer factory, is also being developed as a tourist destination on the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath.

In this place, people will be able to enjoy the musical fountain. Along with this, the population of more than 50 thousand people who are facing traffic jams for hours daily at Nakaha railway crossing will now get rid of it. There are plans to build an overbridge, for which funds have also been disbursed. This over-bridge is also said to be in demand for nearly a decade and a half and is being installed because of the fertilizer factory.
