IDEA BEHIND COALITION IS TO WORK TOGETHER FOR DEMOCRATIC SETUP, SAYS CPI’S NATIONAL COUNCIL MEMBER

JALANDHAR: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has announced to extend support to Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary in the forthcoming Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll. The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting between senior Congress leaders and the state executive body of the CPI.

Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, CPI’s national council member, said the idea behind coalition with the Congress is to work together for the democratic setup of the country and the state.

“This is not for the first time that the CPI has joined hands with Congress. Earlier too, both the parties had fought electoral battles together be it Lok Sabha or state assembly elections,” he said.

Addressing public meetings ahead of the Jalandhar bypoll, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder

Singh Raja Warring appealed to the residents of Jalandhar not to get misled by the false guarantees of the AAP once again. Criticizing the performance of the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, Warring said that it had failed on all fronts in fulfilling its poll promises.

“Instead of focusing on the progress and prosperity of Punjab and the wellbeing of Punjabis, the ruling government was misusing power to stifle the voice of opposition as well as the media that raises questions on the working or exposes the malafide intention of AAP leadership,” he added.

Under the ‘Zaroor Puchho Sawal’ campaign, launched by the PPCC president earlier this week to expose the false promises, fake claims and lies of the Aam Aadmi Party, Warring, along with members and workers of the Mahila Congress, held a massive protest at Maharishi Valmiki Chowk (Jyoti Chowk), here today.

Dr Mohinder appointed as BJP election in-charge

The Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Mohinder Singh, former minister of Jal Shakti in Uttar Pradesh, as in-charge of the Jalandhar bypoll.

Slamming AAP, Mohinder said it is unfortunate that a party which came to power promising a new era has abandoned its poll manifesto.

He added that Jalandhar is an old historical city, and it is unfortunate to see it in total depreciation.

“In the last decade, the city has been completely neglected,” he said.
