CM hands over ₹1 cr each to kin of Poonch bravehearts
BATALA/MOGA/BATHINDA/LUDHIANA : Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday handed over cheques worth ₹1 crore as financial assistance to the kin of armymen who died in the Poonch terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mann met family members of Sepoy Harkrishan Singh in Talwandi Bharth village falling in the Fatehgarh Churian assembly segment and handed over the cheque. Later, the CM visited the families of Lance Naik Kulwant Singh at Charik village in Moga, Havildar Mandeep Singh at Chankoian Kalan village in Ludhiana district and Sepoy Sewak Singh at Bagha village near Talwandi Sabo.
Mann also announced to name school in the Talwandi Bharth village after Sepoy Harkrishan, besides announcing ₹73.50 lakh for the construction of the stadium and the upgradation of the local dharamshala.
In Moga, the CM named the government school after Lance Naik Kulwant Singh. He also handed over a cheque of ₹1 crore as financial assistance to the aggrieved family. “It is a matter of great pride that Lance Naik Kulwant is a second-generation martyr from his family. His father, Havildar Baldev Singh, too sacrificed his life while safeguarding the country. The statues of both martyrs will be installed on the campus of the upgraded school, which will be named after Lance Naik Kulwant Singh,” the CM said.
Mann also said that jobs to the family members of the slain jawans will be given after due consultation with the Armed forces.
At Bagha village near Talwandi Sabo, Mann met the kin of Sepoy Sewak Singh. Besides handing over a cheque of ₹1 crore, he also announced the construction of a government school in memory of the late soldier. He said a statue of Sewak Singh will be installed there.
At Chankoian Kalan village in Ludhiana, the CM announced to name the school after Havildar Mandeep Singh. He also said that the road leading up to the village from Doraha will be named after the martyr.
