A spokesperson for the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) has declared a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on the heads of the two men who killed a tailor in Udaipur on Tuesday over a post in support of controversial remarks against the Prophet.

The declaration of the bounty came even as right-wing organisations took the streets on Agra and Aligarh on Wednesday to protest against the killing of the tailor. Police in Agra, which borders Bharatpur and Dholpur in Rajasthan, were alert since Wednesday morning due to protests by Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal against the Udaipur incident.

The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha organised ‘havan’ and a condolence meeting for the Udaipur victim.

Led by their national spokesperson Sanjay Jat, ABHM activists handed over memorandum to the Agra administration, seeking dismissal of Rajasthan government for failing to protect the tailor even after he had informed the police about threats issued to him for supporting statements by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. “Such a gruesome murder merely for supporting a statement made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma cannot be justified. The accused in the Udaipur killing have even issued threats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this cannot be tolerated,” said Sanjay Jat on the collectorate premises in Agra after handing over the memorandum.

“The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha thus declares a bounty of Rs 2 lakh to anyone bringing the chopped heads of the accused who killed Kanhiyalal in Udaipur,” the ABHM leader said on Wednesday.

Bajrang Dal activists gathered at Namner crossing in Agra on Wednesday and attempted to burn an effigy of “jihad’ but the police took it from them. Heavy force was present at the spot.

“We condemn the cruel killing in Udaipur. Insulting comments are being issued to the prime minister. Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad is not going to tolerate all this,” said Digvijay Nath Tiwari, a Bajrang Dal office bearer.

Police were vigilant in Aligarh since Wednesday morning.

Some Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Jagran Manch activist gathered at Ramlila ground and burnt the effigy of the Udaipur accused..
