He, however, applauded the J&K Police, security forces and intelligence agencies for neutralising terrorists in the region and ensuring the peaceful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.
“We are upgrading our fleet in Jammu for faster response to the contingencies. We will undertake a similar exercise in Kashmir zone,” he said.
Asked about prevailing security scenario across Jammu and Kashmir, he said “At present, the security scenario is full of challenges. “At present, the annual Amarnath Yatra is a major responsibility for us and we are shouldering it with utmost seriousness and alertness. We have made arrangements for traffic, security of pilgrims and their convoys. We along with the CRPF and other forces are doing a commendable job,” he added.
The DGP also referred to the increased drone activities by Pakistan.
“There is an increase in drone activities by Pakistan. LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammad are trying to push arms, ammunition, weapons, readymade IEDs, narcotics to target Jammu and its people, but security forces have deterred all such designs,” he said.
“Following Talib Hussain’s arrest, we busted a terror module busted and worked out many other cases of weapons smuggling and terror activities in the region. Another module that had received consignment of 35 drone sorties and which were sent to Kashmir was also busted. Similarly, modules in Doda and Reasi were also smashed,” he said.
