COP INJURED IN VALLEY TERROR ATTACK: POLICE

A policeman was injured after terrorists fired at a joint naka party of the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, informed the Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday.

The injured policeman was immediatel­y evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

Following this, the area was cordoned off and a search is in progress.

“Terrorists fired upon joint naka party of police/CRPF in #Bijbehara area of #Anantnag. In this terror incident, one police personnel got injured who was immediatel­y evacuated to hospital for treatment. Area cordoned off. Search in progress,” tweeted the Jammu and Kashmir police.

Earlier, four Indian Army personnel on Thursday succumbed to injuries received while neutralisi­ng two terrorists carrying out a suicide bomb attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri.

Both the terrorists, who are believed to be from the Pakistanba­sed Jaish- e- Mohammed (JeM), were heavily armed with deadly ‘steel core’ bullets and were shot down after an over four-hour gun battle which started at 2 AM and ended just before 6.30 AM, police said.

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh told PTI that the two ‘fidayeens’ (suicide attackers), believed to be from the banned JeM, attempted to sneak into the camp but were neutralise­d.

Defence spokesman at Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said alert sentries of the Army post at Parghal in Rajouri district, detected suspicious persons approachin­g their post taking advantage of the inclement weather and dense foliage.
